Enlisting
Joining is not a difficult process, however it can be a lengthy one. The first thing that someone must do in order to join our organization is to contact us. We then like to meet the individual to assess for each other's sake whether we will be a good fit or not. If they decide that they would like to try reenacting we can loan gear and clothes for the weekend in order for the potential member to try reenacting before they spend a lot of money. Nobody wants to waste money on something they find out later isn't what they are looking for.
After the potential member has tried a day or two with us and they decide that reenacting really is something they would like to get involved with, we then set forward on the goal of purchasing all their gear. We will never recommend that you go buy whatever you want, nor will we leave you alone during the purchasing process. It is our intention to guide you through your purchases in order to assure you are not only buying good merchandise, but also that what you are buying is in accordance with our authenticity guidelines.
The biggest question that a new recruit has is "how do I learn all this stuff?" Don't worry, we'll teach you everything you'll need to know. In addition, there are drill manuals available to buy so that you may have a copy of your own to study when we are not at events. Honestly, if you only try to learn at events, you'll never get any good at it. Just like anything new, it will take time to learn, but that's why we drill, drill, drill!
If by chance you join during the off season(winter), don't worry, it gives you extra time to acquire your gear before you actually have to go out and play. Also we take advantage of this spare time to teach new recruits before the season begins so they won't be such a "fresh fish" when it's time to "see the elephant".
Civilians are also welcome in our group! Let's face the facts, without soldiers there wouldn't be a show for the spectators, but the civilians are the ones who hold our hobby together. We are centered around our civilian group when we are at events. They cook for the soldiers from time to time and their tents make a nice place to rendezvous and socialize at the end of the day. Our civilians will also help teach and guide all new members who wish to portray civilian life, without judgement or reprisal because of a lack of knowledge from a new member. We are all in this together and we are all friends because of it.
If you like what you have read, and are interested in joining our organization, all you have to do is contact us, come to a meeting and join up. See our schedule for a list of events we will be attending this year. Don't be shy, just let us know you're here and are interested. We'll teach you everything you need to know in order to have fun, be safe, and teach the public all at the same time.  So what do you say?.....$13 a month sound like a fair wage?........I think so!!  Come on out and see us, we look foward to it!
